In May 2014 it will be 25 years since Splitz was formed. In the beginning we weren't called Splitz, but were renamed such in 1997. So in some ways the name Splitz has only been around in Wiltshire since then. However, our aims have changed little from those very early days.
The charity was founded in 1989 as a project providing services in West Wiltshire and around the Chippenham and Devizes areas. In 1993 the project was registered as a charity called the Single Parent Family Association (charity no: 1017424). In 1997 the charity was registered as a limited liability company and as such was required to re-register with the Charity Commission (charity no: 1064764). This is when the name was changed to Splitz Parenting Alone Support Service. In 2005 the name was shortened to Splitz Support Service to recognise that we were supporting people with a much wider range of issues.
We will hold an anniversary event this summer and publish a special anniversary edition of our Annual Review with lots more about the work we've done over the past quarter century.
Thank you to everyone who has made the past 25 years possible and let's hope our services are needed less in the next 25 years.
