We can offer one to one support to adult victims of domestic abuse who are at medium or high risk of harm of domestic abuse. The risk level is based on the DASH (Domestic Abuse, Stalking, Honour Based Violence) risk assessment.
Our helpline is open on Monday to Friday 9.30am to 4.30pm. If a voice mail is left we attempt to respond the same day or the next working day. Our helpline workers take self referrals, process agency referrals and give advice and guidance for anyone who does not want or does not qualify for ongoing support. The helpline workers contact anyone who has not been allocated to a worker within 5 working days and offer phone support, so no one is being left without contact for any length of time. The aim of the helpdesk is to offer a smooth and fast entry into the service and to address any initial safety issues.
Adult Victim Service (16 years +)
Adult support is via our IDVAs (Independent Domestic Violence Advisors) for high risk victims in Devon, and our Outreach workers for medium risk victims. We offer one to one support, either by phone or on a one to one basis. We help with safety planning, give advice and go through options, support through the criminal and civil court process, support with issues regarding housing and separation, refer to other agencies like Health and Safeguarding Agencies and offer emotional support. Our workers are specialists in dealing with the subject of domestic abuse and are used to work in a multiagency arena. Our aim is to improve the safety and wellbeing of our service users and any children who live in the home.
