Aim

The aim is to provide one-to-one support for young people (11-16 years old) who have witnessed or been affected by domestic violence. There will also be group work in conjunction with other agencies (eg NCH, Barnardo's, Social Services).

Waiting List

We have one full time worker to provide this service, therefore there may be times when we are busy. When we are busy we will continue to take referrals but we will make you aware of the waiting list and approximately how long it might be until we can see you. We will keep in touch regularly with everyone on our waiting list and can offer limited telephone support during this time.

Funding

We have been fortunate to secure renewed funding from BBC Children in Need for another 3 years, ending in June 2013.

Location

Due to the limitations on one worker, this service is only available in east and south Wiltshire, including Warminster.

Referral

Referrals taken from school staff, other agencies and parents. The criteria for referral are:

• Mum has been a victim/survivor of domestic violence
• Mum has identified that her child/ren are exhibiting distressing behaviour
• The perpetrator of domestic violence has left the home
• Mum is a lone parent/carer

Each case will be looked at and assessed individually. If a child has other issues such as ADHD, ADD, OCD, Tourettes, we will probably signpost to a more appropriate agency.
