Buddy Scheme

About Splitz

Since 1989 Splitz has been supporting lone parent families who have been experiencing difficulties such as divorce, separation or domestic abuse. Through a series of workshops and by providing a home visiting service we support families through change. We aim to:

  • Promote independence,
  • Reduce feelings of isolation,
  • Develop a sense of well being,
  • Empower parents,
  • Enable a happy family life.

About the Buddy Scheme

The Buddy Scheme is operated by volunteers. These are usually people who have experienced difficulties such as divorce, separation, lone parenting or domestic abuse in the past and would now like to help others in a similar situation. Our volunteers are sometimes ex-service users who now wish to give something back.

How Do We Operate?

We provide a mentoring and befriending service that will involve regular home visits or meeting in a mutually agreed place such as a coffee shop or garden centre. Our volunteers will listen carefully to your needs and work with you to establish goals and provide encouragement in achieving them. Some of the areas we can assist with are:

  • Developing social networks,
  • Supporting you with all aspects of family life,
  • Finding your way back into education, training or employment,
  • Signposting to other agencies where needed,
  • Or just be someone to offload to once a week!

This service is suitable for you if:

  • You are parenting alone.
  • You live in Wiltshire.
  • You have recently experienced difficulties such as divorce, separation or domestic abuse.
  • You require emotional support and encouragement rather than practical support.
